SOUTHFIELD, Mich.—Guardian Alarm, a super-regional company based here, has acquired SVI Systems, based in Stuart, Fla., nearly doubling its size in that state.
“With the onboarding of SVI, it allows us to continue the market share we have in the West Palm Beach area,” David Goldstein, president of Guardian Alarm, told Security Systems News. Guardian has an office in Lantana, Fla. He said that expanding in Florida is “extremely important” to the company.
Guardian is acquiring the entire company, including 3,000 accounts and 22 employees, and it’s renewing the lease on SVI’s current building. The accounts are about 60 percent commercial, 40 percent residential, he said.
Goldstein declined to discuss the details of the deal, including the additional RMR it will bring in.
SVI Systems is a family owned company that’s been in business for 25 years. “They’re more of a systems integrator, although they do a lot of integration of home security,” he said. SVI originally stood for Security, Vacuums and Intercoms.
Guardian is continuing the family-business trend, he said. One of the company founder’s third generation, Linda Pierce-Haren, is running the Lantana branch and will lead the new SVI branch as well.
Goldstein said SVI Systems will gradually be rebranded to Guardian. “They’ve got such a strong presence, and such a strong family background with that community, which is exactly what we’re about, with our family background. It was just a perfect fit for us.”
The deal was finalized in mid-November.Topic: Residential Tags: Guardian Alarm, David Goldstein, SVI Systems
