NEW YORK—Guidepost Solutions, an investigations, compliance and security company, named John P. Torres COO of its Security and Technology Consulting group, a newly created position in response to the company’s continued growth of its security services. The company also hired security consultant veteran Ed Batchelor to lead its Chicago office.
“The addition of Ed and the promotion of John signal continued growth within the security industry and the importance of marshalling expertise to support our clients’ needs,” said Guidepost’s CEO Julie Myers Wood in a prepared statement. “We are committed to enhancing our team with experts such as Ed and John who bring the specific skills and background needed to provide services consistent with emerging compliance and security threats.”
Torres joined Guidepost Solutions in 2013, where he has served as president of the company’s Federal Practice, which he’ll continue to lead in addition to his new responsibilities. Previously, he was the special agent in charge for Homeland Security Investigations in Washington, D.C. and Virginia. His background includes more than 27 years of experience providing investigative and security management for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Justice, including serving as the acting director and the deputy director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Batchelor has experience in physical, technical and operational security design and consulting and will shepherd the firm’s continued physical- and cybersecurity growth in the Chicago region. He will lead security design and consulting services for existing and new client projects including the new Milwaukee Bucks arena, multiple new tenant initiatives with architectural and commercial real estate partners, and other significant projects.
Batchelor previously served as senior security consultant for Jensen Hughes (formerly Sako and Associates) and is a certified Physical Security Professional through ASIS International, where he also serves as chairman of its Young Professionals Council.
