ST. LOUIS—Hackett Security, a super-regional based here, opened its fifth branch office in McLean, Va., Michael J. Hackett, CEO of Hackett Security, told Security Systems News.
“Strategically it makes a lot of sense for us to open this office,” Hackett said. Current customers brought Hackett to the area, but there is plenty of opportunity for new business there. The coverage potential for the new office is about 250 miles, Hackett said, which “allows us a pretty big swath [of metropolitan areas].”
A provider of integrated systems including, intrusion, video, door access, fire, remote video monitoring and dedicated database management, Hackett Security also has a UL-listed central station that is 2050 certified, meaning it can service federal government facilities.
Its services and capabilities are what “businesses are clamoring for,” Hackett said.
With 60 employees and four other branch offices in Phoenix, Chicago, Alton, Ill., and Jackson, Mo., Hackett Security definitely qualifies as a super-regional security company.
“We’ve grown steadily, but we didn’t set out to become a super-regional. That’s really a byproduct of giving good customer service. We’re thankful that we’ve been able to expand because of our customers,” Hackett said.
The company was founded in 1977 and did mostly residential business until the early '90s when it brought on a large commercial customer. That customer launched its the company's multi-location business work. Hackett’s commercial business boomed from there. Today 70 percent of its business is commercial.
Its specialties are multi-location businesses and dedicated database management. The latter is unique to Hackett. It is hosted access managed services plus credential supply and management. Hackett owns a high-definition ID printing business called P&L Products, so it supplies those credentials itself (and to other security companies as well.)
