Honeywell recently inaugurated three new research and development (R&D) laboratories at the Honeywell Center of Excellence in Brno, Czech Republic. The company also plans to open another five laboratories within a few months as a part of a $10 million investment in the region. The 13,000 m2 state-of-the-art laboratories and office space, operated by Honeywell Technology Solutions (HTS), an integral technology development and engineering arm of Honeywell, are set to add 300 new jobs for local engineering talent in the region.
“The South Moravia Region is well known as the Czech Silicon Valley, and has an abundance of high quality engineering talent in addition to excellent infrastructure,” said Jiří Tomíček, General Manager, Honeywell Technology Solutions. “Through this investment, Honeywell has demonstrated its commitment to growth and development in the Czech Republic and the continued contribution to the creation of the company’s most important European R&D base in the region.”
The new laboratories in Brno will support Honeywell´s Aerospace and Automation and Control Solutions businesses and will help to increase the quality, reliability, and performance of various electronic and wireless products, such as intelligent thermostats, smart regulators, and avionic devices. The activities conducted in the laboratories will help develop better and safer electronic devices. The products will also be tested to ensure compliance with the strictest technical European and U.S. standards specified for market authorization.
“Since 2006, we have seen a steady growth and enhancement of quality in the engineering resources that are available. We have also been successful in attracting a highly talented employee base from across the European region. The expansion of the R&D center in Brno was the next logical step. With the kind of high-end engineering work that Honeywell undertakes at Brno, we are confident that we have made the right business decision”, said Suresh Venkatarayalu, President, Honeywell Technology Solutions
