Honeywell was awarded Airbus’ Best Performer Award for the design and construction of the powerhouse for Airbus’ A320 Final Assembly Line in Mobile, Ala., the aviation company’s inaugural manufacturing operation in the United States. The award honors the aircraft manufacturer’s partner that delivered top level industrial performance for Airbus Group General Procurement.
Honeywell completed the powerhouse for Airbus’ Mobile-based A320 Final Assembly in late 2014 to meet Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standards. The facility houses the technology and personnel needed to provide utilities for the entire campus – including electricity, heating and cooling, chilled and drinking water, compressed air, and sewage handling. Honeywell led the design and construction of the powerhouse, and is responsible for managing and maintaining the facility as part of a 10-year service agreement. This includes outside support and remote monitoring to help operators quickly identify and address issues that could cause disruptions to plant operations. Honeywell also guarantees that all systems will run within strict limits to help maintain critical services needed for the assembly line.
“This award is a great honor and recognizes Honeywell’s expertise in developing and maintaining a complex but critical facility necessary for ensuring the operation of Airbus’ new final assembly line,” said John Rajchert, president, Honeywell Building Solutions. “We look forward to continuing our support of Airbus and helping ensure their new assembly line continues to operate smoothly.”
