Honeywell announced today it has been selected by Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) for a $200 million project to deploy Honeywell’s Elster EnergyAxis® AMI advanced metering technology throughout MLGW’s service territory over the next five years. MLGW is the largest three-service public utility in the United States and services more than 1 million utility meters. Elster was acquired by Honeywell in December 2015.
Honeywell will install a fully integrated smart energy solution installation that includes over 1 million electric, gas and water smart meters as part of the project, including communications modules to facilitate automated meter reading and software solutions to analyze and manage the data.
The EnergyAxis® AMI solution will provide operational and cost efficiencies for MLGW through integrated metering of electric, water and gas in its service territory and the automated collection of meter data. MLGW customers will benefit by having access to more data about their energy consumption and resources to help them better manage their usage, including enhanced payment options, increased savings and efficiency utility service delivery.
