SAN FRANCISCO—Sciens Building Solutions, a provider of fire detection and security services based here, on July 13 announced that it has appointed Michael Dawid as its chief financial officer. In his new role, Dawid will report directly to Sciens CEO Terry Heath.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to the Sciens family,” Heath said in the announcement. “His experience, leadership and ability to take businesses to the next level financially are the perfect fit for our vision of a national platform focused on fire protection and safety. I’m sincerely looking forward to partnering with Michael on this endeavor and continuing to grow Sciens across North America, all while having fun doing it.”

Dawid brings to Sciens 20 years of financial management experience in highly competitive industries. Most recently he held the position of vice president of finance at Arconic, Inc., where he was in charge of the Global Aerospace & Automotive Products business, with $4 billion in annual revenues. Dawid holds a Master of Business Administration in International Finance and Foreign Trade from the University of Applied Sciences Kempten in Neu-Ulm, Germany.

“I am extremely proud to be part of the Sciens team and what it stands for in this important industry,” Dawid said in the announcement. “I am excited and inspired by what Terry Heath and Huron Capital are building at a rapid pace and look forward to contributing to the efforts of serving customers locally, regionally and nationally in the fire detection and security space.”

Dawid told Security Systems News that Sciens Building Solutions “has a very clear vision: Demographic and regulatory trends will drive growth in the fire detection market. We are building out a national platform focused on exceptional customer service and specialized capabilities within fire detection and safety space. The targeted growth will be achieved both organically and through additional acquisitions of fire detection providers to large commercial buildings, generating at least $15 million in revenue.”

He noted that Sciens is focused on identifying, executing and integrating strategic add-ons to its platform. “Our recent addition of Pleasanton, Calif.-based Sabah International Inc. is an excellent addition giving us a meaningful presence on the West coast, with an impressive customer list and a strong reputation in the market. We will continue to look for acquisition opportunities as we seek to further expand our platform.”

From an integration standpoint, Dawid said that Sciens will also continue to focus on “synergies across the platform through standardized sales, operations and administrative procedures, as well as best practices to drive high customer satisfaction, execution and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) fire code compliance.”
