The Pennsylvania Burglar and Fire Alarm Association was incorporated in 1979 for the purpose of promoting the use of electronic security systems by reputable businesses. The PBFAA only accepts applicants who are fully insured, have measurable experience and are able to undergo a rigorous 2 month investigation. It holds its members to strict standards ensuring those using the association for a vendor source are dealing with a quality organization. The association also offers ongoing training and meetings to further educate its members in the area of sales, legal issues, technical information and business ideas.

The National burglar and Fire Alarm Association is the largest professional trade association in the US promoting electronic safety, security and systems integration. The National Fire Protection Association is a dedicated advocate of consensus codes, standards, research, training and education. Established as a international non-profit organization in 1896, their mission is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life. They serve as a an authoritative source on public safety, NFPA develops, publishes, and disseminates more than 300 consensus codes and standards intended to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and other risks.
